Transparency and accountability is our sole objective and we are proposing to begin a new campaign titled #justice4prisoners; an advocacy tool for those prisoners awaiting trials, the increasing demand for prison reforms and our planned support for inmates through special welfare services while in prison.
The ever increasing number of prison inmates and its attendant human rights violation has over the years become a source of worry for the government which has led to the Passage and signing into law, the Administration of Criminal justice Act, (ACJA 2015) assigned certain responsibilities to the Nigeria Prison Service, the Nigeria Police, Ministry of Justice and the Judiciary amongst others.
The Nigeria Government has over the years allowed for more creative ways in solving national issues, and we align with the efforts of this present administration to provide short-term and a more holistic approach in line with our collective aspiration of justice and fairness for all irrespective of race, tribe or religion.
